Exams are of many types including school exams, college/university exams, competitive exams, job exams, interviews, etc. At every step of our life, we go through many kinds of examination. In an exam preparation, we usually consider both study and practice. Study is about reading subjects and improving your knowledge about a particular exam, but what is the importance of practice? Why is it necessary to practice in exams?
The answer can be concluded in just three words: Practice makes perfect. This is true in every aspect of our life. If you want to gain expertise in anything, you will have to practice. Exams are not actually about gaining expertise, but you at least need to have proper understanding of the subject in order to pass it. This is why it is important to practice in an exam. When you study a topic, you must give at least one third time for practice. When you read something, you can remember it maximum for one day without revision, but if you revise it within one day, you can remember it at least for one week. This is the power of practice.
Practice may include revision of the topics, practice with mock tests, sample questions and problems, reading again and again and analyzing. As much you practice a topic, longer it will stay in your mind. Our mind works such that whatever we read is stored at various levels in our mind. Now, as much we practice a topic, more it will be upgraded to the upper level.
